Information about the 34th Derby-Auktion 2024
It’s that time again! Equine Marketing is once again pleased to offer you the perfect setting for the sale of your yearling in 2024. The 34th edition of the Derby Auction for yearlings is coming up and, as always, offers breeders and/or vendors a first-class and exclusive opportunity to present your yearling!
1. Date of the Derby-Auktion on August 17th, 2024
The 2024 Derby Auction will take place on 17 August, the final weekend of the 129th German Trotting Derby.
2. Further procedure, registration & deadlines
To register your yearling (born in 2023) for this year’s Derby Auction, please use the enclosed form and send us the necessary information by 12th April 2024 at the latest to
auktion@equine-marketing.de
Alternatively, we offer you the option of registering your yearling for the 2024 Derby Auction via our homepage www.equine-marketing.de under the menu item “Sell”.
After the deadline, Equine Marketing (BerlinTrab GmbH) will confirm the registration by sending the contract documents. These must be completed, signed and returned to the above address by 30.04.2024 at the latest.
We would like to point out that yearlings may be rejected due to an excessive number of entries and/or late return of the registration/contract documents to Equine Marketing!
3. Medical examination & vaccination
As in 2023, we would like to explicitly emphasise the topic of “medical examinations” once again. Whether in the registration process, on the auction day before the auction, but also afterwards. The presentation of a medical examination ensures:
- Transparency
- Buyer protection
- Seller protection
- Early detection and identification of possible defects
- Satisfaction in the purchase decision on the part of the buyer
- Decision support for the registration of your yearling
In the following we would like to recommend a guide of all relevant examinations of your yearling:
- General examination including heart and eye examination
- Inspection of the locomotor system
- For stallions: exclusion of cryptorchidism
Recommendation X‑ray examination:
- Front: Toe lateral 90 degrees (bilateral).
- Carpus: 0 degrees and 90 degrees (bilateral)
- Rear: Toe 90 degrees (bilateral)
- Tarsus: 70 degrees and 110 degrees (bilateral)
- Knee: approx. 100 degrees and 180 degrees (bilateral)
The X‑ray images must be sent to Equine-Marketing in digital form by e‑mail (cloud, individual images, etc.) by 11 August 2024 at the latest. Your vet will be happy to advise you.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that your yearlings have the necessary vaccinations. These can be found in the implementation regulations for immunisation against equine influenza and equine herpes virus infections in accordance with § 28 TRO (Durchführungsbestimmungen zur Immunisierung gegen Pferde-Influenza und Equine-Herpes-Virusinfektionen gem. § 28 TRO).
Horses participating in the auction must be vaccinated.
